City Administrator Dennis Kelly, Deputy City Administrator Ray Gosack, Interim President of the Chamber of Commerce Sandy Sanders and 4 of the 7 City Board of Directors (Gary Campbell- Vice Mayor, Kevin Settle, Steve Tyler and Andre' Good) traveled to Washington, D.C., Feb. 10th-12th, 2009. We believe we had a favorable reception by all of our congressional delegation as well as with the City's lobbyist J.C. Watts Partners. Reviewed Fort Smith's top legislative priorities with the congressional delegation and their staffs - I-49, U.S. Marshals Service Museum, May Branch flood control project. Communicated importance of these projects to Fort Smith and the need for federal funding. Also met with staff of the Federal Highway Administration to discuss the I-49 project. Legislators are supportive of these and other project |

Fields of flowers, wicked witches and beauty queens are all on the agenda for the Spring 2009 Trips and Tours conducted through the Center for Lifelong Learning at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. Eight destinations are planned from March through July, including two overnight trips, one to Branson and one to Hot Springs. The other six will be day tours to various nearby locations, such as Muskogee, Little Rock and Tulsa. |
